Meenakshi Temple

Meenakshi Temple, The Temple of Lord Shiva.

Meenakshi Temple is situated at Madurai.The temple is one of the most holiest shrines for Hindus. Meenakshi temple complex has a “Thousand Pillars Hall” with carvings and sculptures which are more than 1200 years old. It is the Temple of Lord Shiva. Meenakshi Kalyanam festival, which is observed for the wedding of Meenakshi and Lord Sundareshwar is celebrate for 12 days here during the(April-May).The temple has 12 gopurams (temple towers) which are an  example of Dravidian architecture.
